Guide To The Lowe's Home Safety Council Grants Program

LHSC Grants Program is one way we put our mission statement into action. The 2001 LHSC Grants Program has grant money available for 501(c)(3) organizations that help people improve their home safety acumen or motivate them to better home safety practices.

Do you have a program or an idea for a program that you'd like money to help fund? Keep reading to see if your program is likely to be awarded a Lowe's Home Safety Council grant.

Who Is Eligible for an LHSC Grant?
 
To be an LHSC grantee, you must have ALL of the following:

• A 501(c)(3) or qualified governmental agency tax status
• A program that brings home safety to life
• Access to the Internet

While not prerequisites, preference will be given to proposals that do all of the following:

• are based in relative proximity to a Lowe's market
• address high-risk audiences, including children and seniors
• propose easily replicated, innovative interventions

One more consideration: grants are reserved for residential-focused projects and will not be given to institutional environments such as nursing homes. We will not provide grants for general operating budgets.

Do you have an intervention-related project you'd like us to fund? Before deciding what to propose to LHSC, keep in mind that all guarantees must propose programs that support the strategic objectives of the Lowe's Home Safety Council:

• Enable and motivate people to make better choices about safety and safe behaviors.
• Increase the use of essential safety products by increasing awareness of availability and appreciation of value.
• Optimize the contributions of the human capital, promotional capabilities and distribution channels of Lowe's corporate family, suppliers and participating organizations in the pursuit of home safety.

Important note: Because our LHSC objectives mandate enabling and motivating people to better home safety practices, the funds available through our grants program are for programs that actively work with people to achieve that objective. Please do not submit proposals for research projects -- intervention proposals will be given top priority.
