  Lowe's Great Safety Adventure - The Great Safety Adventure (GSA) began its tour in March 1999 as a "field trip on wheels" to teach school-age children about home safety. Sponsored by Home Safety Council, the exhibit visits elementary schools and Lowe's stores to help children and their families learn how to save lives. Rover, the dog whose nose knows safety, accompanies the multi-million dollar interactive exhibit to all appearances. Since its conception, the GSA has reached more than 350,000 children in nearly 300 cities.

  Lowe's Heroes - Lowe's Heroes are teams of employee volunteers, who tackle a home safety-themed project every year. Through strategic partnerships with local nonprofit agencies or government departments, Lowe's Heroes provide life-saving programs and information to families. Goals of the program include home safety education and activation through improved senior, child and fire safety, disaster preparedness and home security. In 2001 Lowe's Heroes personally reached more than 200,000 American homes with safety information or safety product installations.

  CodeRedRover.org - CodeRedRover.org is an interactive home safety website that offers games, activities, do-it-yourself projects, home safety checklists and tips for parents and kids all in the name of saving lives. CodeRedRover.org meets and exceeds the standards outlined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), while allowing children to personalize their online experience. The site has been recognized by USA Today as an "Education Best Bet" award winner. Yahooligans.com also rated the site as one of the "Top Five Coolest Web Sites for Kids."

  Grants Program - The Grants Program helps other 501 (c) 3 organizations achieve their missions to promote better home safety practices. The program partners with other nonprofit groups to identify innovative means to activate families toward safer living at home.

  Salute to Home Safety Excellence - The Salute to Home Safety Excellence Award recognizes companies sharing the vision of creating safer American homes. In partnership with national safety organizations, Home Safety Council is emphasizing and highlighting best practices of home improvement industry suppliers demonstrating leadership in promoting home safety.

  Home Safety For Seniors - Home Safety for Seniors was developed to train youth and family volunteers in conducting home safety needs assessments for senior citizens. Volunteers look for important safety items missing in each home, i.e. smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, no-slip mats for throw rugs and handrails for bathroom areas. After the assessment, the volunteers purchase necessary safety products for each senior, then return to the senior's homes for delivery and installation.



 

  Risk Watch - Risk Watch is a school-based injury-prevention curriculum for children in preschool through eighth grade. Developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) with funding from Home Safety Council and a panel of respected safety and injury prevention experts, Risk Watch helps link teachers and their students with community safety experts, parents and caregivers. Risk Watch gives children and their families the skills and knowledge they need to recognize and avoid safety risks. In five major categories for grades pre-K through 8. motor vehicle safety, fire and burn prevention, choking, suffocating and strangulation prevention, poisoning prevention, falls prevention, firearms injury prevention, bike and pedestrian safety and water safety. Each module includes age-appropriate warm-up exercises and tips to help students step avoid preventable injuries.

Taking place during the second week of June, National Home Safety Month, Home Safety Council uses this week to bring attention on the staggering rates of preventable injuries and deaths that occur every year.
